Darth Vador, Lara Croft and Bilbo Baggins are sharing a latte. Captain America, Superwoman and Naruto are waiting in line for the toilet. No, you’re not dreaming. You’ve just entered the bizarre and universally popular world of Cosplay.

These scenarios are commonplace at conventions like Comicon in California or the Otakuthon Festival in Quebec where devotees of all ages and walks of life gather by the thousands, disguised as their favorite fictional characters to share a unique and unusual passion.

They’re called Cosplay adepts and Cosplayers. Constructing costumes, assuming identities, finding online and real life communities, and attending conventions and competitions all over the world, this documentary dives deep into lives of these players and their fascinating subculture.
